Senior Engineer

Location: Kent, Washington

The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and design solutions to support the development of new space vehicles and test/launch facilities. The position requires expertise in analysis, laboratory testing, and hardware design/fabrication. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to piece together fragments of incomplete information, formulate hypotheses, identify root-cause, and recommend solutions to difficult problems. The candidate is also required to work independently on advance development projects. Coordination and collaboration skills will also be an essential part of the job.

  • Engine combustion
  • Liquid film cooling
  • Cryogenic systems
  • Tank pressurization
  • Fluid sloshing
  • Fluid transients
  • CFD simulations
  • Aeroheating
  • Plume heating
  • Conjugate heat transfer
  • Thermal component qualification
  • Aerodynamics
  • Low-cycle fatigue
  • Other systems engineering duties as required

Qualifications:

Required

  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with at least 20 years of experience in fields of fluids, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to solve a variety of complex problems using a combination of analysis and hands-on laboratory testing
  • Ability to work in a team and provide technical guidance and insight
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information

Desired

  • Experience with the following tools:
    • Sinda/Fluint
    • ROCETS
    • CFD++ (or other CFD package)
    • SPF
    • TDK
    • ANSYS
    • C/C++
    • FORTRAN
    • Matlab / Simulink
