Test Engineer (West Texas)
West Texas Launch Site near Van Horn Texas
As part of a small team, you will support the development, construction, operation and maintenance of liquid rocket engine test facilities. This is a hands-on engineering and project management position
Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, fabricate and install liquid rocket engine test facilities
- Design, define, procure and install engine test facility systems and components
- Develop and execute test plans and subsequent data reviews
- Procure components and materials; manage vendors and subcontractors
- Plan and oversee facility maintenance
- Assist with schedule and cost estimation and management
- Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
Qualifications:
Required
- Demonstrated technical expertise in liquid rocket engine test stand design, operation and maintenance
- Pressurized Gas Systems
- Fluid Systems
- Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants, experience with cryogenic propellants and Kerosene preferred
- Understands/experience with hazardous operations and design for system safety
- Strong Project Management and team leadership skills
- BS degree in engineering and at least 5 years direct experience with propulsion test facilities.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information
Desired
- 10 or more years experience in the design, development, and operation of propulsion test facilities
- Experience with civil engineering projects
- Experience in construction management
- Experience with 3D CAD tools and data management
- Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
- Knowledge of the state of the art in data acquisition and control hardware and software
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes and quality control
