Staff Attorney

Program Management

DESCRIPTION:  As part of a small team you’ll provide contract legal advice, with emphasis on our customers, business development, and contracts administration personnel.  As a pioneer in reusable space launch vehicles, you’ll specialize in negotiating alternative federal R&D funding contracts, as well as payload launch services and engine sales.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on day-to-day issues of spaceflight development for a broad range of internal clients, including business development personnel, working engineers, and procurement professionals
  • Serve as the company’s primary legal support to business development efforts
  • Assist with contract negotiations and proposal review
  • Train company personnel on legal and regulatory compliance

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • Juris Doctor degree  
  • 4+ years’ experience in a major law firm or corporate legal department
  • Experience with federal Government procurement, both classic FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) issues, commercial item regulations, and OTA (Other Transactions Authority)
  • Excellent analytical skills and English-language communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien 
Desired
  • 8+ years legal experience, including the aerospace industry
  • Experience with federal grant agreements
  • Experience with satellite payload contracting
  • Academic degree and/or work experience in engineering, physics, or other ‘hard sciences’ technical field
