DESCRIPTION: As part of a small, rapidly evolving team, you�ll be responsible for working closely with engineering design and company leadership to support all manufacturing efforts and equipment related to building liquid propellant rocket engines. This includes owning the manufacturing and assembly work that is performed on a rocket engine, as well as delivery and commissioning of the various sub-systems in support of programmatic budgets and schedules. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Coordinate manufacturing of liquid propellant rocket engines, including structural, fluid, hydraulic and electrical systems integration.
  • Author work orders that interpret design engineering drawings into touch labor instructions in the engine integration build cell.
  • Support/develop cost estimates for hardware, processes and organizations.
  • Share ownership of an overall assembly sequencing for engine assembly and make real-time adjustments as needed to deal with production issues.
  • Develop and maintain assembly and build schedules.
  • Maintain documentation pedigree to support human capable flight.
  • Take ownership over configuration management of flight inventory.
  • Develop tooling concepts for assembly fixtures, procure and commission this equipment.
  • Support hardware integration on the floor and troubleshoot issues as they arise throughout the day. Document discrepancies, and facilitate their timely resolution.
  • Provide design for manufacturability review of engine designs, and make recommendations to improve quality, simplify operations and reduce cost.
  • Develop the internal specifications required to support the manufacture of human capable flight engines.
  • Develop process controls on critical manufacturing characteristics.
  • Develop and implement preventive actions related to discrepancies.
  • Take ownership of product quality, establishing procedures and processes to support continuous improvement.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma techniques to dramatically reduce cycle time, defects and waste.
  • Design and populate your assigned work center with equipment required to produce human capable launch vehicles.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or other relevant field
  • Proven experience and successful track record leading teams in a matrix organization
  • Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor 
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien
Desired Experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or machine shop environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and implementation
  • Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.
  • Experience with safety critical systems.
