Simulation/HIL Engineer - Software

DESCRIPTION:  Working with a unique and talented team, you’ll help develop a space vehicle from concept to post-flight analysis.  Here, you’ll design, develop, and build the software infrastructure used on our aerospace vehicles.  This hands-on position requires a commitment to quality and attention to detail commensurate with safe human spaceflight.  You should be comfortable collaborating in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, and contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating leadership, technical competence, and meticulousness.
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop software to aid and support simulation model development and GNC flight software design in desktop and hardware-in-the-loop-environments
  • Develop software for the large scale analysis of vehicle flight performance data
  • Collaborate with simulation, GNC, HIL, software development and modeling domain experts to develop cross-functional solutions for simulation development and analysis
  • Develop automated test environments to support regression testing and requirement verification across multiple environments, including emulated hardware, real hardware-in-the-loop, and even vehicle-in-the-loop testing
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Minimum of a B.S. in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Strong software development skills, particularly in C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Ability to execute Monte Carlo simulations and analyze performance to add value to the tool development process
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
  • Highly organized and capable of planning and guiding complex technical work
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien 
 
Desired
  • Experience with large-scale model development, Monte-Carlo methods, and the processing of very large data sets
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, Python, real-time operating systems, serial communications, IP networking, embedded systems and/or code generation
  • Familiarity with sensors and actuators, including GPS, accelerometers, rate gyros, pressure or temperature sensors, solenoids, and servos
  • Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and test development
