DESCRIPTION: As part of a small but aggressive team, you will be responsible for negotiation, determination of best value, procurement and material movement of avionics hardware and subassemblies for launch vehicles and associated electrical ground support equipment. This is a fast-paced, hands-on position in which you will work directly with suppliers, engineers, program management, budgets, schedules, and financial teams. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Support sourcing and conduct procurement of electronic components, electro-mechanical devices, electronic and cable harness sub-assemblies and mechanical components in support of avionics subsystem development
  • Negotiate pricing, routing, delivery dates, and payment terms with suppliers
  • Participate with Procurement and support execution of long-term agreements with strategic suppliers 
  • Act as a primary and knowledgeable resource for Engineering, Procurement, Avionics Hardware and Harness teams when determining best value suppliers, sourcing plans, make vs. buy, should-cost, etc. 
  • Mitigate sole/single or directed source risk and ensure continuity of supply
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Act as primary point of contact with external and internal customers on all matters affecting procurement and contractual agreements
  • Act promptly to resolve supplier problems and questions with Blue Origin documentation 
  • Manage R&D bills of material supply & demand
  • Generate, transmit and manage RFIs, RFPs, RFQs and purchase orders
  • Assist engineers with proposal packages and evaluation of bids
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Inventory Management teams
  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies and invoice issues 
  • Travel as required to supplier and Blue Origin locations throughout the US
  • Identify, manage and measure suppliers for on-time delivery, quality, and value
  • Act as an interface in the supply chain process for all Blue Origin customer teams 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, technical or supply chain fields
  • 5+ years’ experience purchasing in a technical environment; 3+ years’ experience in electronic manufacturing, subassembly or components environment preferred
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and telephonic
  • Skilled with contract and supplier management
  • Understand design-for-manufacturability and ability to drive successful implementation
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with a strong customer focus
  • Self-manage activities with minimum supervision based on given priorities
  • Proven time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
  • Ability and willingness to dig headfirst into the engineering details to ensure the correct requirements, best value and highest reliability for Blue Origin
  • Knowledge of bill of materials construction and engineering revision/release processes
  • Experience with MS Office products, and project management software
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information 
Desired
  • Familiarity with Nondisclosure Agreements and Federal Acquisition Requirements
  • EEE Parts Control Plan development and management
  • GIDEP and Parts Control Board participation
  • SAE AS5553/AS6496 familiarity and compliance enforcement
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts up to $500K
  • Knowledge of IPC standards for electronics assembly and inspection
  • APICS or CPM certification
