Dimensional Inspector

Manufacturing and Test

DESCRIPTION:  As part of a small team, you’ll inspect components for space flight vehicles ensuring they meet exacting requirements.  With minimal to no supervision, using your specific knowledge of aerospace tolerances and inspection equipment, you’ll provide accurate data on tight tolerance, high value components to verify parts match engineering designs.
 
Responsibilities
  • Program, setup and operate CMM devices
  • Use design data to inspect machined components produced in-house or by our suppliers
  • Perform first article, in-process, final and receiving inspections
  • Provide feedback to machinists and engineers with dimensional data
  • Document, track and complete discrepancy reports
  • Provide inspection time estimates
  • Maintain and track all inspection equipment calibrations
  • Process improvement
  • Maintain configuration control on files and job records
  • Safely work within an industrial environment
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • 10+ years of experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components
  • CMM programming and operation
  • Superior blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in the use of precision hand tools, gages, optical comparator, and surface plate work
  • Experience inspecting tight tolerance, high value components
  • Familiar with the use of personal computers
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien 
 
Desired
  • CAD system knowledge, preferably Creo
  • PC DIMIS NC on machine inspection
  • Faro and Verisurf knowledge
  • Basic machining knowledge
  • Familiar with Mastercam, preferably X3 or higher
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)
  • CAD systems
