Acoustic & Structural Engineer


DESCRIPTION:  As part of a small team, you’ll develop acoustic mitigation systems that reduce sound transmission into vehicle structures and payloads.  This hands-on position, focusing on acoustic load mitigation, that involves you in all aspects of design, analysis, assembly, testing and flight operations.
Responsibilities include:
  • Design, analysis, development and testing of acoustic mitigation systems
  • Support configuration development and trade studies
  • Develop system requirements, perform flow down, and verification
  • Create interface definition and control documents
  • Create drawings, specifications and other documentation
  • Oversee fabrication and assembly services; procure components and materials; manage vendor/subcontractor performance
  • Plan and conduct tests, and review data
  • Provide technical guidance for integration
  • Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical status
  • Coach, mentor and technically assist other engineers
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and operational cost savings
  • B.S. degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, or automotive
  • Experience on in one or more of the following areas:
    • Vibroacoustic analysis techniques
    • Direct field acoustic testing or reverberant acoustic testing
    • Flat panel transmission loss testing
    • Material selection, characterization, compatibility and manufacturing techniques
    • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien
  • Demonstrated expertise with one or more of the following analysis codes: Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Nastran, Ansys, Optistruct, SEAM, VA One
  • Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10
