DESCRIPTION:
As part of a unique and highly-skilled team, you will perform hands-on assembly and maintenance of rocket engine turbomachinery. Candidate will support turbopump builds by following technical instructions in work orders to assemble hardware and perform highly technical assembly tasks. We seek people who are passionate about space and possess a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Precision assembly of rocket engine turbomachinery
  • Detailed component inspection using calipers, micrometers, etc. to tolerances of .0001”
  • Calculating dimensional stack-ups to control assembly fits of components
  • Hydroproof testing of components
  • Precision rotor balance
  • Coordinating hardware processing such as shipping, cleaning, and inspection
  • Hardware handling under stringent cleanliness requirements for parts in oxygen service
  • Maintain inventory of tooling and equipment
  • Safely working with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • 7+ Years of experience with assembly of turbomachinery, aircraft engines or other highly technical machinery.
  • Experience in aerospace, aircraft or related fields
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals/detailed work instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude in the ability to use hand and power tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to accurately use of precision measurement and inspection tools
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien
 
Desired:
  • Working knowledge of rocket propellants, including cryogenics, RP and hydrogen peroxide.
  • Experience with Forklift operation
  • Overhead crane and rigging experience
  • Associates degree
  • Experience with grinding and polishing metals
  • Experience with thread insert installation and thread tapping tools
  • Familiar with Excel
 
 
Must be physically able to:
  • Climb ladders and stairs
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations
  • Typically 45 hours per week, schedule varies depending on needs, flexibility required
  • Work weekends and overtime when necessary
