DESCRIPTION:  As part of the Systems Engineering & Integration leadership team, you will focus on building the systems integration techniques and skills for Blue Origin.  You will have the opportunity to develop a team of experienced systems engineers who, with good judgment, are able to apply and scale systems engineering and integration processes within and across diverse subsystems, elements, and systems (flight and ground). You and your team will seek creative solutions and flexible methods using superb leadership and communication skills.  Your customer focus will guide the team and your internal stakeholders toward identification of optimal integration approaches (depth and breadth) for any given situation.  The SE&I team, like all of Blue Origin, thrives in an innovative, fast-paced, and often uncertain environment where we solve complicated and interesting problems in service of an envisioned future where millions of people are living and working in space.
                                                                                     
Responsibilities
  • Develop a highly competent and energized team of systems integrators and lead systems engineers using effective recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and talent development
  • Manage resources across many programs, including forecasting, assignments, while utilizing continuous feedback from the programs
  • Define, perform, and continuously improve system integration processes and team capabilities, along with their value to internal and external customers, including:
    • Effective technical problem solving across complex entities,
    • Technical integration within and across systems,
    • Development and maintenance of key program and technical performance monitoring,
    • Leadership and documentation of complex trade studies,
    • Participation in, and leadership of gated design and production reviews,
  • Develop methods and skills to effectively review and discern risks from design, analysis, or schedule changes
  • Establish a team that guides a project/program through the development life cycle, with an emphasis on transition to manufacturing, operations, refurbishment, and maintenance
  • Ensure team members exhibit inherent safety focus 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field
  • 10+ years system development/integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies
  • Keen desire to lead and develop a team
  • Demonstrated experience leading (formally or informally), and working collaboratively with, small teams on fast-paced projects
  • Ability to develop solutions with partially defined requirements and changing criteria
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit excellent judgment and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien

Desired
  • Knowledge of systems and project engineering practices such as trade studies, establishing system metrics, and functional requirements derivation
  • Experience as a Project Engineer and/or Lead System Engineer
  • Experience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through field support)
  • Experience and knowledge of system-level analysis tools including model-based engineering frameworks
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Creo)
  • Cost estimation and modeling
  • Experience with proposal development
