Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Engineer

DESCRIPTION: As part of a small, innovative company, you’ll support design teams, develop NDT processes, interpret NDT results, and procure inspection equipment that support engine and launch vehicle programs.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Support design teams to maximize inspection of hardware including forgings, castings, weldments, additive manufacturing and composite structures
  • Review and approve drawings to identify correct NDT method is applied
  • Develop inspection techniques for ultrasonic test (UT), Eddy Current, radiographic test (RT), penetrant test (PT), and assist with interpretation of inspection results
  • Approve supplier inspection techniques
  • Develop and qualify novel NDT methods for atypical inspection
  • Maintain flight inspection records
  • Identify and procure NDT equipment for in-house inspection
  • Assist with development and maintenance of company NDT Plan and train Level I and II inspectors per NAS 410 or equivalent
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Level III inUT, ET, and PAUT.  Level III or substantive experience in digital radiography, shearography and penetrant inspection
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien
Desired
  • Master’s degree in engineering and/or training or experience as an NDT engineer
  • +20 years’ NDT experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Digital Radiography (DRT) and Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Experience in low-mid rate production environment, preferably in aerospace 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including forging, casting, welding, additive manufacturing and composites fabrication
  • Experience in a small company and/or startup environment
