Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer
Location: Kent, Washington
As part of a small team, you will be responsible for the design and development of guidance, navigation and control systems for space launch vehicles. Applicant should be comfortable working all aspects of the design cycle, from concept creation to flight test and post flight analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Developing guidance, navigation and control algorithms and flight software.
- Developing vehicle simulations and subsystem models, including but not limited to: hydraulic and electromechanical actuators, reaction control systems, and main propulsion systems.
- Developing system requirements, flowdown, and verification approaches.
- Developing flight software including requirements definition, design implementation, and verification
- Integration and testing of the flight hardware (e.g., INS) and software, including Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing.
- Performance testing of guidance and navigation approaches and solutions to ensure performance robustness.
- Supporting vehicle configuration development and trade studies.
- Developing flight test plans and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
Required
- Demonstrated technical expertise in real-time software, simulation, and rapid development.
- Knowledge of Matlab, Simulink, and C/C++ programming.
- Control system design.
- BS degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information.
Desired
- Familiarity with boost, orbit, and entry GN&C techniques commonly used on launch vehicles, missiles, or spacecraft.
- Familiarity with autocoding techniques and practices (e.g. Mathworks RTW).
- Experience with designing, developing, and testing servo loops for hydraulic and/or electromechanical actuators.
- Experience with dynamic modeling of multi-body or flexible body systems.
- Experience with real-time embedded code development.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes and quality control.
