Crew Systems Engineer
Location: Kent, Washington
As part of a small team, you will be responsible for the definition and development of the systems required to support human activities in space. This is a hands-on position that will involve you in all aspects of design, assembly, testing and flight operations.
Responsibilities:
- Design, development and test of seats, flight equipment, environmental control and life support (ECLSS), and abort systems
- Support of configuration development and trade studies
- Development of system requirements, flowdown, and verification
- Interface definition and control
- Create drawings, specifications and other documentation
- Oversee fabrication and assembly services; procure components and materials; manage vendor/subcontractor performance
- Test planning, conduct, and data review
- Estimate schedule and cost
- Identify opportunities for improvement in safety, schedule, performance and cost
Qualifications:
Required
- Demonstrated experience with two or more of the following areas: thermal/fluid systems (ECS, life support, oxygen generation), human factors, escape systems, solids/ordnance/pyrotechnic devices, dynamic testing, personal protective equipment, seats.
- Demonstrated experience on recently developed aircraft, such as Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) and F-22 Raptor, or automobiles.
- Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.
- BS degree or higher in engineering and at least 5 years of experience with crew systems.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information.
Desired
- Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire2 or greater.
- Knowledge in the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS is preferred).
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes and quality control.
